Domestic Support at Home — A Clean, Safe and Comfortable Home Makes All the Difference
Reliable, respectful help with housework, laundry, shopping and meal preparation — so you or your loved one can focus on living well rather than managing the home alone.
Domestic Support — More Than Just Housework
Maintaining a clean, tidy and well-organised home is something most of us take for granted when we are healthy and mobile. But for older adults, people living with long-term conditions, those recovering from illness or surgery and individuals with reduced mobility or stamina, keeping on top of even basic household tasks can become genuinely difficult — and genuinely dangerous.
An unmaintained home is not just untidy. It can become a hazard. Clutter creates fall risks. Unwashed clothes and bedding affect hygiene and skin integrity. A poorly stocked kitchen leads to inadequate nutrition. An environment that feels out of control can significantly impact mental health and self-esteem. Domestic support is not a luxury — it is a health and wellbeing service.
At Oice Support Services, our domestic support visits are provided by trained, DBS-checked carers who understand the difference between cleaning a house and maintaining a home. They work with sensitivity, respect and a genuine understanding that they are working in someone's private space. Every visit follows the service user's preferences — the way they like things done, where things are kept and what matters most to them.
Why a Clean Home Matters
Reduces Falls Risk
Clutter, spills and unwashed floors are among the most common causes of falls at home. Regular domestic support helps maintain a safe living environment.
Supports Mental Wellbeing
A clean, ordered home reduces anxiety and improves mood. For people who take pride in their home, losing the ability to maintain it can be deeply distressing — domestic support restores that sense of control.
Improves Nutrition
Carers who prepare meals and keep the kitchen stocked ensure that proper nutrition is maintained — directly benefiting physical health and recovery.

What Our Domestic Support Service Includes
Our domestic support carers assist with a wide range of household tasks — all carried out to the service user's standard and in the way they prefer. Here is what is typically included:
Vacuuming carpets and rugs, sweeping and mopping hard floors, wiping down surfaces, cleaning bathrooms and keeping the home free of dust and dirt to a comfortable, hygienic standard.
Washing up, wiping down kitchen surfaces, cleaning the hob and sink, emptying the bins and maintaining a clean, hygienic food preparation environment at every visit.
Sorting, washing and drying clothing, towels and bedding — using the service user's own washing machine and in line with their preferences regarding how items are washed, dried and folded.
Ironing and pressing clothing and household linens, hanging items up properly and maintaining a well-organised wardrobe — because looking smart matters to many people.
Changing bed linen regularly and ensuring beds are made to a comfortable, hygienic standard — particularly important for those with skin conditions, continence needs or limited mobility.
Accompanying the service user to local shops or completing the shopping independently using a provided list — returning with everything needed and putting it away correctly.
Preparing fresh, nutritious meals and snacks according to the service user's dietary requirements, preferences and cultural food traditions — ensuring they eat well at every visit.
Cleaning up after meals — washing up, drying and putting away dishes, wiping the table and leaving the kitchen clean and ready for the next meal.
Emptying internal bins, replacing bin bags and where required putting bins out for collection on the correct days — maintaining a hygienic home environment.
Observing and reporting any hazards — trip risks, blocked exits, broken equipment, inadequate heating — that could affect the safety or comfort of the service user.
Watering indoor and outdoor plants, collecting post, wiping down windowsills and carrying out other small tasks that help maintain the home to the standard the service user is used to.
Helping with online grocery orders, pharmacy collections and other practical errands — keeping the household well-stocked and organised without the service user needing to manage it alone.
Every domestic support visit is carried out according to your preferences — how you like things done, where things are kept and what matters most to you. Call 02045528642 to discuss your household and what you need.
How Our Domestic Support Visits Work
Domestic support from a care provider is different from a cleaning service. Our carers bring the values of compassionate, person-centred care to every household task they carry out. Here is how:
Your Home, Your Way
We never impose a method, a product or a standard that is not yours. Before domestic support begins, we ask exactly how you like things done — which cleaning products you prefer, how you take your coffee, how you like your laundry folded. We follow your lead in your home, always.
Consistent, Familiar Carers
We aim to send the same domestic support carer on every visit. Familiarity matters enormously when someone is working in your home — you should feel comfortable and confident, not watched or judged. Consistency builds that comfort.
Combined With Personal Care
Domestic support visits can be standalone or combined with personal care, companionship or medication support in a single visit. Many service users find that combining tasks into one well-designed visit provides the most practical and cost-effective support.
Who Is Domestic Support Right For?
Older Adults Living at Home
For many older people, keeping up with housework is the first daily task that becomes difficult — not because of illness but because of reduced energy, strength or mobility. Regular domestic support visits allow older adults to maintain the home they love to a standard they are proud of, without having to ask family to do it for them.
People Recovering From Surgery or Illness
Following a hospital stay, operation or period of serious illness, household tasks are often the last thing a person can manage — and the first thing that leads to a deteriorating environment if left unaddressed. Domestic support during the recovery period keeps the home safe, clean and comfortable while the person focuses on getting better.
People With a Long-Term Condition or Disability
Living with conditions such as arthritis, COPD, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, heart failure or other long-term health issues can make everyday household tasks exhausting or impossible. Domestic support provides reliable, consistent help — preserving independence, dignity and the ability to remain in the home of choice.
Getting Started With Domestic Support
Free Home Assessment
We begin with a free, no-obligation home visit. Our care coordinator walks through the home with you, understands your current situation and discusses exactly what domestic support would be most helpful — which tasks, how often, at what times and to what standard.
Your Domestic Support Schedule
We create a clear schedule of visits — setting out which tasks will be carried out at each visit, on which days and at what times. You have complete input into this schedule, and it can be adjusted at any time as your needs or preferences change.
Visits Begin — Reviewed Regularly
Your domestic support carer begins on the agreed schedule. We aim to send the same carer every visit so you build a comfortable, trusted routine. We check in with you regularly and update the schedule or task list whenever needed.
“A carer who helps with the laundry is doing far more than the laundry. They are preserving someone’s dignity, their comfort and their sense of home. We never underestimate that.”
Your Way, Always
We follow your preferences — how you like your home kept, your meals prepared and your laundry done.
DBS-Checked and Trusted
Every domestic support carer is DBS-checked, referenced and trained before entering your home.
Consistent and Reliable
We send the same carer whenever possible — so your home is always in familiar, trusted hands.
Safe Home Environment
Our carers observe and report any safety concerns at every visit — your home stays safe, not just clean.
Flexible and Adjustable
Visit frequency, duration and task lists can be changed at any time — we adapt as your life changes.
Domestic Support Across Dagenham and East London
Our domestic support carers are locally based across Dagenham, Barking and the surrounding East London boroughs — ensuring consistent, reliable visits without the delays or unreliability that can come with non-local providers. We currently offer domestic support across:
